NEW: Passion fruit from the Netherlands
PILOT WORKS OUT WELL
The Dutch passion fruit is new to the Staay Food Group’s range. One of our regular cultivation partners planted a small area of passion fruit plants in his greenhouse in Belfeld, Limburg, 2 years ago. Following a successful pilot phase, the product is now available. The product is grown by Brookberries, one of the 8 ‘Inno Growers’. This is a group of greenhouse horticulture companies with a passion for innovation.
Growing passion fruit on Dutch soil is unique. Dutch passion fruit is characterised by its sweeter taste and larger size than the familiar passion fruit. Indeed, local cultivation allows the product to be harvested ripe. As a result, the fruits are noticeably larger, sweeter and juicier. Moreover, only organic crop protection is used in cultivation. All this makes the product extremely suitable for food service customers where taste, quality and experience are key.
From now until October, homegrown passion fruit is available in 2 kg loose and trays of 24 and 30 pieces.
